Thanks to the visits of tourists from different parts of the world, many good things have been achieved in St. Mary’s Basilica. In February 2021, we completed a five-year conservation of the Main Altar. The masterpiece carved by Veit Stoss has regained its splendor and is still our pride.
From Monday to Saturday the Main Altar is opened at 11.50 a.m. and it is closed at 6.00 p.m. On Sundays and holidays, the altar carved by Veit Stoss is opened from 2.10 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. On selected religious holidays there will be no opening ceremony, and it remains opened during the liturgy. It is related to the presentation of individual scenes from the life of Jesus and St. Mary, e.g. Christmas, Resurrection or the Assumption of St. Mary.
